Grab a Camera and Go for a Walk

In his essay “Walking”, Thoreau wrote “I believe in the forest, and in the meadow, and in the night in which the corn grows." Take a walk, he advised, study the wild places of your origin.

I began my photographic walks in Iowa's Loess Hills, Buena Vista County and the City of Storm Lake, IA. In 2010, my wife Margie and I travelled more than 20,000 miles to walk 12 national parks and monuments. Since then we’ve returned to the Badlands of South Dakota, walked Rocky Mountain, Saguaro and White Sands National Parks and the North Shore of Minnesota. I currently spend many hours volunteering (and walking) in Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, Sherburne County, MN.
